Challenge
Building AI fluency in a travel business
Almosafer Travel & Tourism Co. is Saudi Arabia’s leading travel and tourism powerhouse, elevating the experience for travelers to, from, and within the Kingdom, the region, and beyond. As a national champion for tourism, the company supports Saudi Arabia’s vision by serving key verticals across the ecosystem.
Almosafer delivers customer-centric products and services through a proprietary, holistic platform built on the foundations of data, technology, and scalability. By leveraging AI-driven innovation, Almosafer enhances the traveller journey while ensuring operational excellence at scale.
Almosafer recognized an opportunity to stay ahead of technological change by strengthening its workforce’s readiness to harness it. As operational complexity grew and customer expectations rose for faster, more personalised service, the company saw a clear opening: to build practical AI capability across the organization before it became a competitive necessity.
The company set out to equip its workforce with the skills needed to adapt to a changing business landscape, boost productivity, automate repetitive tasks, and drive innovation.
“Our decision to upskill in AI was driven by the ambition to stay ahead in a rapidly diversifying market, and Udemy gave us the platform to make it happen,” said Rola Fattal, VP of HR.

Solution
Structured pathways from foundations to application
Almosafer launched a structured AI learning initiative built on multiple pathways tailored to different levels of knowledge and business needs. Employees begin with foundational topics such as generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and prompt engineering, then progress to practical applications including AI-powered productivity tools, operational automation, and AI-enabled office management. The approach emphasizes hands-on learning and real-world application over theory.
The AI-powered features in Udemy supported the rollout across three key areas:
• AI Assistant: learners gained instant clarification on complex topics and contextual explanations without waiting for instructor intervention
• Skills Mapping: provided visibility into existing capabilities and skill gaps, aligning learning paths with business needs and future skill requirements
• Role Play: created a safe, scalable environment for employees to practice real-world scenarios and build confidence before applying their skills in the workplace
“We used Udemy as one part of a broader in-house push to bridge the gap between learning and implementation, so our AI capabilities translate directly into measurable business value.” Fattal said.

Results
More than 840 enrolled and a 76% completion rate
Through Udemy, more than 840 employees enrolled in AI-related learning paths, completing more than 350 AI-focused courses and accumulating more than 13,000 learning hours. The AI learning paths achieved a 76% completion rate, exceeding the average completion rate of other voluntary learning programs, and employees rated the experience 4 out of 5.
Beyond learning metrics, employees began applying AI tools in their daily work to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and automate repetitive tasks. A cross-functional team identified an opportunity to automate repetitive customer support requests that were consuming significant time from the support team. Following their AI learning pathways, the team implemented an AI solution that reduced process completion time by 27%, saved 60 hours per month, and cut manual effort and operational costs by 22%.
“Udemy played a role in our wider AI agenda, helping us move from AI awareness to real application — our people now identify AI opportunities and implement them with confidence.” Fattal said.

Almosafer continues to expand its AI learning initiative, with plans to introduce more advanced pathways and deepen AI integration across additional business functions.
“As we scale AI learning across more teams, Udemy Business gives us the flexibility to keep our workforce ahead of the technology curve,” Fattal said.
