That’s why our 2025 MentorU program represents a powerful example of how Workday Career Hub and Workday Skills Cloud come together to unlock employee growth.

Modernizing a Beloved Internal Program

MentorU has long been a staple of Udemy internal development programs, connecting employees across teams and levels to build community, foster leadership, and support growth. But in 2025, the program took a leap forward.

For the first time, mentors and mentees used Workday Career Hub to add their skills and express their interests directly in their Workday profiles. This made it easier for employees to find the right match, whether that was a mentor with experience in engineering management or a mentee eager to grow in leadership.

Career Hub suggests mentors based on the highest match scores generated by skill interest, job titles, career paths, and more. By integrating Workday Skills Cloud, Udemy employees could align themselves to priority skills and better identify co-workers who can help them grow.

Because the process is facilitated in Workday, the program is always on, serving up development opportunities to meet people where they are, when it matters most. Employees can participate at any time throughout the year. As soon as they find they have a moment, they can find a mentor and make a request, and the program aligns to any start date.

Participants also receive a weekly newsletter with suggested learning content, reflection exercises, and actions to keep the mentorship relationship moving forward.

Skills-Driven Development in Action

By integrating with Workday, MentorU connected more than 100 employees in 2025 to more intentional, skills-aligned mentorship matches — with a measurable impact on metrics that matter.

“Having our MentorU participants find mentor matches based on the skills they were developing and sharing in Workday Career Hub allowed for more intentional skills-aligned connections,” said Kelly Monnot, Learning Program Manager at Udemy.

MentorU participants achieved 2.1% higher performance ratings on average compared to non-participants.

Participants were promoted at more than double the rate of their peers (19% vs. 8.4%), a 10.6 percentage point lift that spans both mentors and mentees.

For managers who served as mentors, the impact was especially notable. They were promoted at a 59% higher rate than non-participating peers (11.8% vs. 7.4%).

All told, participants said they felt more empowered to drive their development, while People & Learning leaders gained deeper insights into skills growth and engagement.
