Dettagli del caso di studio
Worldpay, now a Global Payments company, is a global leader in finance technology, with unique capabilities that empower businesses of all sizes to make, take, and manage payments — all in the name of powering omni-channel commerce.
When Worldpay reestablished itself as an independent organization in 2024, it was presented with the opportunity to redesign learning and development programs and boost employee engagement with flexible, career aligned development opportunities for everyone.
Today, Worldpay uses Udemy Business to provide its employees with the skills and knowledge needed to advance themselves and the organization. Global Payments recently completed its acquisition of Worldpay in January of 2026 to create the world’s leading pure-play commerce solutions provider.
Feeding a growing appetite for learning and development
Providing learning and development opportunities to 10,000 employees poses numerous challenges. Worldpay, now Global Payments, needed to meet the needs of numerous job roles and stay current with a wide range of tech skills, globally. In addition, the company had to find a way to make learning enjoyable, accessible, and convenient to all.
“We did not have a strong utilization of our previous content provider,” says Jeremy Goebel, Head of Global Learning at Worldpay. “We were making a sizable investment and seeing very little return, so we wanted to rethink what was possible.”
Worldpay’s employee surveys identified a strong desire for upskilling and career advancement opportunities. Yet employee feedback demonstrated that the company wasn’t providing the right tools and that engagement with those tools available was low.
Worldpay set out to find an engaging, continually evolving solution that would provide the depth and breadth of technology-related courses in languages the company’s varied global workforce required. Learning leaders sought to make learning fun and intuitive, spark enthusiasm, and activate employees.

A one-stop-shop for learning in an intuitive interface
Learning leaders chose Udemy Business, compelled in part by its extensive catalogue of technical courses that perfectly aligned with the needs of a modern fintech organization. In addition, Worldpay believed the platform’s inherent usability would elevate employee adoption.
“One big attraction was Udemy’s user experience. We love the look and feel of it,” says Goebel. “You go in, answer a few prompts, and it starts promoting content relevant to your interests. And the more you learn the better it is at recommending content.”
Udemy’s interface creates an exceptional user experience, one that engages Worldpay employees, who now work for Global Payments, right away. Amazingly, Worldpay allocated more than 92% of its Udemy Business licenses in just three months. Today, Worldpay has 7,000 licenses, paving the way for even bigger achievements to come.
Learning aligned to career paths
One of the most important features for Worldpay is Udemy’s learning paths, which the company, has closely aligned with key competencies and personal development plans. Not only does this mean that users can access learning materials targeted at their specific needs, but they can do so in a way that suits them best thanks to Udemy’s anytime, anywhere availability.
“The learning paths mean that people can go in and learn what they need to learn, without having to take long courses full of unnecessary or irrelevant information,” says Goebel. “It’s such an efficient delivery system, and we then support those competencies with additional workshops and resources.”
These competencies allow individuals to build the skills needed to progress their careers and prepare for key industry certifications. But they also allow Worldpay to stay up to date with emerging technologies, platforms, and processes integral to staying at the forefront of fintech. The company has also worked directly with Udemy’s Professional Services team to build additional learning paths that support new hires and leadership development.
“The Udemy team was thorough in its discovery calls and its understanding of what we’re trying to achieve,” says Goebel. “They’ve all been helpful in creating relevant and impactful learning paths. I really appreciate the clarity, communication, collaboration, and quick turnaround.”

Exceptional engagement and millions in savings
With Udemy at the heart of its self-serving learning and development offering, Worldpay has transformed engagement across its employee base. Today, the company provides learning to employees in 174 countries, meeting its needs for multi-language study with courses available in French, Portuguese, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese.
The company’s employees have collectively enrolled in more than 13,500 courses and over 49,000 learning hours — an average of 8.1 hours per person. And the quality of those courses is clearly aligned with the increased engagement, with employees reporting an average 4.4/5 course rating.
“I think there was a strong, pent-up demand for this kind of engaging learning,” says Goebel. “And Udemy has made it easy to meet. It’s a one-stop source for much of the learning our employees want and need.”
The benefits don’t end with improved learning and engagement, however. Through its Udemy licenses, Worldpay has saved $2.7 million compared to the cost of purchasing courses individually, and it’s seen $1.3 million in savings in preparation for vital industry certifications.
For employees themselves, the benefits are also clear. In a recent survey, almost 10% of respondents said that Udemy had helped them gain a promotion or move into a new role. And roughly 30% said it helped them be more productive at work.
“Our insight into utilization and the testimonials we’re seeing show there’s been a huge increase in confidence that our learning and development can help people succeed in their current role and prepare for the next one,” says Goebel.

A new chapter for Worldpay places expanding learning on the horizon
Goebel and his team see an opportunity to take what’s been learned from the Worldpay relationship with Udemy and scale that success as the company joins Global Payments.
“We now have a resource for everyone to drive their personal development and grow their effectiveness, and that has big benefits for us in terms of how we can serve our employees and our clients,” says Goebel. “As well as exploring new opportunities, we have a proven model that we can expand on as things evolve in the coming years—and a resource that can help our employees prepare for the future.”
As this future unfolds, Udemy will be there every step of the way to offer support and provide the tailored learning experiences Worldpay needs.
“The partnership with Udemy has been outstanding from the start,” Goebel adds. “From navigating launch and post-launch to driving adoption and managing future plans, I truly appreciate all of the support and guidance.”
