The company develops and operates online and mobile gaming platforms and content for regulated markets worldwide, combining deep technical engineering with a fast-moving product portfolio. Headquartered in Vienna, Austria, Greentube serves customers across Europe and beyond.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Within Greentube, the Technology & Engineering organization\u2014which includes engineering, platform, and technology teams\u2014focuses on building the technical capabilities needed for both current and future roles. Because these teams work across increasingly specialized areas, one challenge was making learning relevant to the actual skills and responsibilities of different technical positions.<\/span><\/p>\n

To address this, Greentube set out to create a more structured approach to technical development, linking learning opportunities more closely to the capabilities needed in each role. The aim was to give employees clearer development paths while helping the technology organization build the skills it needs for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

In close collaboration with technical experts, people leaders, and the Group Learning & Development team, Greentube developed a role-based learning framework tailored to the different technical positions across the Technology & Engineering area.<\/span><\/p>\n

The approach gives employees a clear development route linked to the skills and knowledge relevant to their role, while leaving room to build on what they already know. Rather than expecting everyone to follow the same curriculum, employees can skip content they have already mastered and focus their development on areas that are most relevant to them.<\/span><\/p>\n

The L&D team translated this approach into role-based learning paths in the company\u2019s Cornerstone learning management system (LMS). The 2026 catalog includes 28 learning paths covering 22 Technology & Engineering area positions, from backend and frontend software developers, data science and analytics, and platform architects to scrum masters, technical operations, and business analysts. Three of the positions are further differentiated across three seniority levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

The learning paths combine internal expertise from subject-matter experts with curated external content, with Udemy courses serving as a core component of the learning experience. Development is designed to be part of everyday work rather than separate from it, with learning paths incorporated into employees\u2019 individual development plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

The role-based approach generated strong engagement across the Technology & Engineering area. Over two years, employees completed 640 courses, representing 3,286 learning hours across 388 distinct course titles. The 28 learning paths gave approximately 225 employees a structured way to develop against the capabilities relevant to their technical roles, while allowing them to build on existing knowledge and focus on what they needed most.<\/span><\/p>\n

The team evaluated the initiative using the Kirkpatrick Model, combining learning activity data from Cornerstone and Udemy with employee feedback and HR data. In the employee engagement survey, favorability on the statement \u201cI am offered training or development to further myself professionally\u201d reached 87% in the Technology & Engineering area in early 2026, compared with 85% in 2023. The score remained consistently high, between 83% and 87%, and above the 83% Austria benchmark.<\/span><\/p>\n

At Greentube GmbH, favorability reached 89%, an increase of 10.5 percentage points compared with the previous year. In addition, 91.6% of the approximately all employees who engaged with the learning paths were still with the company as of mid-2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

Greentube continues to expand and refine its role-based learning model based on feedback from employees, technical experts, and business stakeholders. The company will also continue to measure the impact of learning through employee engagement and development indicators, using data to refine the learning experience and keep it aligned with changing business and technology needs.<\/span><\/p>\n
