At the start of 2020, it had a high attrition rate, impacting the company\u2019s efficiency, costs, and HR workload, restricting innovation and growth. At that time, employee development was managed in person at the company\u2019s offices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was incredibly difficult to manage employee development when we were carrying it out in person at the company\u2019s offices,\u201d says Andr\u00e9 Gon\u00e7alves, InnoWaveChief Strategy Officer and People &amp; Culture Director at InnoWave. \u201cIt was a costly, admin- heavy task with many scheduling challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When COVID-19 hit, the company\u2019s leadership team realized they had to make a change to their employee development approach to continue adding value. With their main value being People First, their goal was to improve retention and employee L&amp;D as the company grew. To do this, they searched for an online learning platform that would enable InnoWave to deliver a wide variety of training courses at scale to meet the needs of a hybrid workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The platform needed to deliver soft skills as well as technical skills, and integrate easily with its internal academy program, called University, to ensure cultural consistency across its offices in six countries. InnoWave also wanted to capitalize on opportunities to grow resources such as personnel, and technology to help it compete more effectively with other companies for potential contracts and qualified personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solution<\/strong>: <strong>The perfect match for InnoWave\u2019s ambitions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After creating a short list, and making business cases for several online learning platforms, InnoWave soon realized Udemy Business was the perfect fit. \u201cWe knew Udemy was the one for us because of the number, diversity, and scope of its courses, which include specialized training,\u201d says Andr\u00e9. \u201cAll the courses are recognized in our industry, relevant to our sectors, and taught by subject matter experts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Udemy Business was also the best choice because of its ease of use and accessibility \u2014 two of Andr\u00e9\u2019s must-haves for an online learning platform. Now, using the Udemy\u2019s metric dashboards their HR team can track employee training hours and ensure that the most appropriate courses are chosen to bridge any skills gaps within the company. They created the internal role of Tech Champions, who were responsible to select relevant Udemy Business courses that meet the requirements for each level.<\/p>\n<p>Andr\u00e9 says: \u201cAfter that, it was very easy to create the career paths \u2014 using the Learning Paths feature \u2014 and implement them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>InnoWave is proud of its global reach, having extended offices in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Portugal, India, the Netherlands and the United States. With help from Udemy Business\u2019s International Collection, their global workforce has access to experts and practitioners with content in their native language, building confidence and knowledge, resulting in greater engagement, collaboration, and retention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur company has a broad scope, from Cloud, Data, AR\/VR, IoT and Cybersecurity to quality assurance, so it\u2019s important for us to have a lot of skills,\u201d says Andr\u00e9. \u201cWe also need to learn new skills fast when we start a new project. Having courses in people\u2019s preferred language is a plus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning for Success: Technical, Managerial, and Soft Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AWS and Java certifications, as well as quality assurance, have been the most soughtafter courses. Since implementing Udemy Business, more employees are studying, and certifications have increased. \u201cMuch of our success with certifications is due to Udemy and the Learning Paths we created,\u201d says Andr\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the company has employed Udemy Business to provide managerial training and soft skills, which not only allows employees to advance their careers but also to contribute to the company\u2019s expansion. Communication is among the most popular courses at InnoWave and employees are guided by Learning Paths to become familiar with the company\u2019s culture, strategy, operational model, and how to communicate internally and externally to ensure company-wide consistency.<\/p>\n<p>Andr\u00e9 believes that having a platform for digital learning helps to ensure that employees are all speaking the same language, and that everyone has access to the same information and training materials.
