We wanted to find other ways to quickly and easily upskill our people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Momentum Group previously ran frequent classroom training sessions for its technical teams, often dedicated to specific certifications. But these were costly and weren\u2019t always useful. For example, with only classroom learning in a traditional setting, people would often fail their exams and need to retake them. Available set times for class, pressure from work and family commitments, different learning pace and level of understanding were sometimes barriers to success.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Another core goal for the company was to become a more attractive employer and increase its retention rate. \u201cWe\u2019d often see talent leaving for other companies because their skills stagnated in their roles,\u201d says Annette. \u201cWe need to continuously upskill our tech professionals who were organically ambitious and eager for advancement or more challenging work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Momentum Group wanted to find a more effective way for its professionals to learn. Both line managers and the company\u2019s senior team can recommend specific Learning Paths \u2014 pre-built course collections \u2014 to <\/span>fill critical skills gaps.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cUdemy has played a vital role in certifying our teams on cloud platforms; it\u2019s been a key focus for us as a business, and there are dozens of courses on the topic,\u201d says Annette. \u201cThe platform is particularly useful for helping our people revise for their certifications. You don\u2019t always need to complete entire courses \u2014 you can just choose the modules you need to focus on. We would prefer that they stay though.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Inspiring learners throughout the company<\/b><\/p>\n While many of the company\u2019s technical teams are equipped with Udemy Business, it\u2019s not automatically available for everyone. Instead, employees must write a letter of intent detailing what they\u2019ll get out of the platform. \u201cIt helps us ensure people have a specific focus for their learning, compared to if we gave the licenses out freely,\u201d explains Annette.<\/span><\/p>\n Annette\u2019s team promotes Udemy Business throughout the company by working with learning heroes: Udemy super users who share their personal journeys to inspire others.\u00a0<\/span>And as more people use the platform, the company has seen a positive impact on its employees\u2019 personal lives.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cUdemy Business really shined as a benefit during the pandemic. We saw people taking courses on everything from woodwork and guitar to planting vegetables and beekeeping,\u201d says Annette. \u201cToday, it remains an invaluable resource for learning about mental health, too.
